Doritos new line of JACKED tortilla chips are claiming to be “Bigger. Bolder. Thicker” than their original line. Chip Review has no argument with this declaration, however we would like to offer you a definition for JACKED of our own. JACKED as in messed up.
Chip Review would hesitate strongly to use these definitions if we were judging these chips on their flavor alone. These Enchilada Supreme chips are a wonderful mixture of “cheddar cheese, tangy salsa and Mexican spices”….In other words, Doritos took their Nacho Cheese, Taco and Salsa flavor formulas, and dare we say, JACKED them up a bit to form this tasty combination. We really like this flavor.
But, back to our original assessment of these JACKED chips. As we’ve said numerous times on our site, we appreciate when brands try new things, and push the limits. However, we also expect these same brands to know when to say “if it ain’t broke, don’t fix it” or “enough is enough”. Doritos brand has to know that they have the formula for the chips that all other tortilla chips in the industry compare themselves to – so light and crispy. Why change that perfect recipe into an awkward sized, overly thick and too dense version of your own product? Chip Review truly feels like Doritos could have had a superstar here, but you combine an A-list flavor with a tolerable tortilla chip, and you don’t make perfection.
