Chip Review always finds it a little bit odd, and unnecessary, when a brand feels the need to color a jalapeno flavored chip red. Red? I’m pretty sure most of your consumers are well aware of what color jalapenos are….Green. So why is this? If we had to guess, we think it is most likely one of two reasons: 1) either the jalapeno chips are colored red purposely to better exemplify “heat” visually, or 2) these brands must like to use another seasoning, such as paprika (which is red), in combination with jalapeno seasoning to create their jalapeno chips.
All that being said, Dakota Style’s Jalapeno Kettle Chips are slightly red in color, with paprika among the ingredients and they do appear slightly spicy….And, as far as jalapeno chips go, they aren’t half bad. Slightly greasy thick kettle chips mix nicely with a slightly spicy, and onion-y, jalapeno seasoning.
