And yet another Doritos flavor that makes us believe that Doritos must have had some time on their hands and decided to take a few of their already existing flavors, combine them, and call it something new.  We referenced this same technique with their recent Doritos Jacked – Enchilada Supreme.  This time around we feel like they took their Spicier Nacho Cheese and Buffalo Wing flavors, shook’em up, and created Doritos Tapatio (Salsa Picante) Hot Sauce.

We’re not quite sure that the name fits the chip for us.  We would be much more comfortable calling this Doritos flavor ‘Spicy Pizza’, or Doritos Flamin’ Hot Cheetos….  In fact, how the inclusion of cheese fits into a Hot Sauce flavored chip, is beyond us (we like it, but just don’t get it)?  We are pretty familiar with our hot sauces here at Chip Review, and as far as we remember, Tapatio Hot Sauce does not include, nor taste like cheese, so…..

Never the less, the flavor combination works well with Doritos light and crunchy tortilla chips.  The bright, bright, bright red chips include a prominent cheese forward flavor that ends up blending rather nicely with the spicy Tapatio hot sauce flavor.  Don’t say we didn’t warn you when Doritos puts out a new Spicy Pizza chip not long after they pull these Tapatio chips off the store shelves…..

As always, these are our thoughts, we would love to hear what you think.  Agree or disagree, let us know.
