We love the name of this brand. How clever, and gutsy……plus, they’re right too! FOOD SHOULD TASTE GOOD!
As we tasted these lime flavored chips, here at Chip Review, we thought to ourselves, “so these are what all natural, lime flavored, tortilla chips taste like”. Believe us, it is quite different than what we are used to tasting for lime flavored chips in this industry. Usually, lime flavored chips have that really acidic vinegary zing accompanying the lime flavor. The zing is probably designed to trigger our minds into thinking we are biting down into that acidic lime, but more often than not, that zing is the result of the inclusion of vinegar, or some other form of acid (at least this is what we think). With these chips, the zing is all but missing. Which make us believe that when all natural lime juice is simply squeezed over tortilla chips (and at what amount?), the majority of the acidic zing is lost in the process, and what we are left with is a mild lime flavor, or essence, without the pungent zing.
So, that’s all well and dandy, but does it taste good (because, as you all know, FOOD SHOULD TASTE GOOD)? In our opinion, they do and they don’t. They are great tortilla chips. Nice rustic, corn flavor, with a unique half moon shape to boot. We appreciate the lime essence, but we are missing some of the acidic zing we’ve come to expect with other lime flavored chips.
The thing we love most about the Food Should Taste Good brand is that even when they don’t knock it out of the park, they still make pretty darn good chips.
Please let us know what you think. Agree or disagree, we want to hear it.
