REVIEW: Lay’s – Super Chips – Joppie Saus

Rating: ©©©© chips  (lip-smacking)

These “Super Chips” from Lay’s were courtesy of our friends S&A who brought them back to us from the Netherlands.  According to our sources Joppie Sause (sauce) is a creamy condiment best described as a mustard/curry mayo sauce, most often used on top of french fries in the region.

The flavor coating these chips was definitely recognizable as mustard right away – a rather sweet mustard in fact.  And, believe it or not there actually was a richness, or creamy fatty-ness, to the chips that could almost be described as a mayo flavor (minus the wet element).  Onion flavor was very prominent.  However, we did not taste any curry flavor what so ever, and when we checked the back of the bag to see what ingredients could constitute an attempt at adding curry flavor to these chips, the only one was cinnamon…..Never the less, the flavor was liked by all.

The potato chips were narrow rippled, slightly thin, and crunchy.  They reminded us of the standard Ruffles style.

As to whether or not these chips truly are accurately describable as “Super Chips”?  Well…we didn’t find anything extraordinarily amazing about them warranting such a title….

…..maybe the fact that they made it back from the Netherlands in tact and still crunchy?

As always, these are our thoughts, we would love to hear what you think.  Agree or disagree, let us know.
