REVIEW: Dakota Style – Salt & Pepper Kettle Chips

Mmmmmm……crunchy air……crunchy, flavorless air……….

In our opinion these chips could be called Light Pepper & No Salt.  If we are being completely honest, and we try to be here at Chip Review, these are some of the most unseasoned chips we’ve ever tried.  We’ve had low sodium chips with more salt….

Funny thing is, the thick cut, kettle cooked, potato chips were covered with loads of pepper looking black sprinkles???  So, you’d think that at the very least these chips would be packed with spicy, black pepper right???  Wrong!

To top it off, these Dakota Style Chips (once again) tasted a little too much like oil…..We hate to keep doing this to Dakota Style Chips, but it seems like each and every bag we open has the same oily issue…

On a positive note, we can say that we appreciate the minimal amount of ingredients used in these chips.  Any flavored chip with four or less ingredients is pretty impressive – potatoes, oil, salt and pepper.  In fact, we can even taste some of the potato flavor through all that oil.  But, in the end, what are we supposed to do when another brand can use the same simple list of ingredients, and yet their product is far superior to this one??
