Most of the other Old Vienna of St. Louis chips we’ve tasted have all had some spicy heat level to them. These Wisconsin Cheddar and Sour Cream Riplets do not include any hot sauce or spicy seasonings, they are simply exhibiting some tangy Wisconsin Cheddar and sour cream.
Chip Review recently reviewed Dakota Style’s Sour Cream & Cheddar chips, and we thought they were decent, but not really anywhere near our favorite Sour Cream & Cheddar Cheese Chips of all-time. Well, if we had to describe these Old Vienna chips, and that’s kind of what we do here, we would have to call them a poor man’s version of Ruffle’s amazing version.
Old Vienna’s potato chips are a wider rippled, crispy potato crisp. They did not exhibit very much from the sour side of sour cream…but did have lots of creaminess. They had plenty of tangy cheddar cheese seasoning mixed with a tad bit too of salt. These are good chips, but nothing extraordinary.
As always, these are our thoughts, we would love to hear what you think. Agree or disagree, let us know.
