We noticed a funny thing as we glanced at the backside of the Erin’s White Cheddar Jalapeno Popcorn bag, apparently Erin’s Popcorn is made by none other than Tim’s Cascade Snacks (the wonderfully delicious potato chip company!).  So, what’s the deal with Erin?  Who is Erin?  What is the connection between Erin and Tim?  All good questions, unfortunately, we were unable to ascertain any of the answers.  Which can mean only one thing, we are going to get creative and simply make something up….

According to (totally hypothetical) Chip Review legend: Tim, of Tim’s infamous Cascade Snacks, was at a local, organic grocery store one afternoon, just walking the chip aisle, minding his own business and admiring the store’s vast display of his thick & crunchy potato chips, when all of a sudden – THUD!*$  – he runs smack dab, head first into a nice young lady who was standing alone in the chip aisle.  Long story short, that young lady was actually doing the exact same thing Tim was doing in that aisle; she was admiring the store’s display of her all natural popcorn.  And, as they say, the rest is history, and the relationship between Tim and Erin was born!

Erin’s popcorn consists of light, extra white, fresh, and crunchy little popcorn kernels.  The kernels remind us of the type of popcorn that we grew up popping at our homes.  Those smaller, odd shaped kernels, nothing like the large, round, full bodied kernels that some popcorn companies provide us today.  These kernels simply seem more…natural to us.

The white cheddar cheese seasoning is apparent from the get go, but yet not over bearing in any way.  The popcorn instantly reminds us of the classic white cheddar cheese popcorn we grew us with, only with a light, minimal presence of jalapeno chile pepper.  The jalapeno flavor is there, but very subtle, and definitely resides squarely in the background, regardless of how much of the popcorn we ate.  Also lingering in the background are a few of the classic, standard flavor role players.  Of course you know their names, lets hear it for: onion and garlic!!  Mr. O and G, do add some much appreciated depth to the overall flavor profile, and certainly always rounds everything out!

Good popcorn, great seasoning, easy to eat, nothing super extraordinary, but definitely better than average.

As always, these are our thoughts, we would love to hear what you think.  Agree or disagree, let us know.
