REVIEW: Earl’s – Party Time Cheese Puffs

Earl's - Cheese PuffsApparently, Earl’s Old Fashioned Cheese Puffs are for ‘party time’.  What the correlation between old fashioned and party time is, we have no idea?!

Overall, we do not have very much to say about Earl’s Party Time Cheese Puffs.  The puffs are certainly on the smaller end of the spectrum, roughly 1/2 to a 1/3 the size of your standard industry cheese puff. Their texture, or should we say lack there of, is practically non-existent.  These puffs are what we would describe as having a soft crunch.  Fortunately the cheese puffs do still inhabit that always delicious cheese puff meltability.  Simply pop into mouth, apply an ample amount of moisture, and watch as the puff slowly melts into a cheese pool on your tongue.

As far as the flavor goes, there is a good level of tanginess to the bright orange cheese powder, but really if we had to describe this flavor in a nutshell we would use one word: SALTY!!  So, so, so salty!!  We would even go so far as to say that it is difficult to eat too many of the cheese puffs due to their salt level, but really that wouldn’t be the truth, because it didn’t seem to stop us.  It only seemed to require us to rehydrate a bit more often during the snacking process.

As always, these are our thoughts, we would love to hear what you think.  Agree or disagree, let us know.

  1. Very disappointed in the Earl’s cheese puffs, used to be my Favorite then you changed the size of them and the flavor is not as it used to b! I hope you are planning on going back to original recipe or I will have to buy Cheetos. I hope I can continue with Earls

  2. With all due respect to Coleman’s opinion, I think Earl’s are outstanding. In a different league than other puffs, so perhaps someone would be disappointed if they were expecting a Cheetos clone. I was introduced to them just a couple of years ago, so I can’t speak to Michael’s disappointment. The Earl’s I know have a substantial amount of delicious cheese dust. The best part is the melty-soft, deep-fried-like crunch. I’ve always had the impression that their puff recipe is designed for quality as opposed to cost.
