All jokes aside, it is not very hard to determine this snack’s target audience. There’s a reason why our younger snack testers thought this popcorn deserved a 5-chip “A-list” rating, while the adults who tried this colorful candy coated popcorn, were checking their calendars for their next dental appointment! This popcorn no longer belonged in the snack category so much as it did in the candy category. A few of the adults actually remembered trying a version of this colorful candied popcorn at the local fair back in the day. While they may have loved it back then, none of the adults appreciated it now!
The popcorn is fun to look at, and would certainly add some color and wow factor to a snack spread; but be warned that you better also have enough other salty snacks (and toothpaste) to combat the ultra sweet candy popcorn. The white butterfly popcorn is liberally coated with a thin, colorful layer of crack-ily melted sugar. We’re not sure if the candy coating caused it or not, but the popcorn is sort of stale, and does not hold up very well to the colorful sugar onslaught.
In the end, it’s easy to tell what side of the snack rating spectrum the adults fell on with this stuff, but it is impossible to deny the kids love for it. Colorful sugar caked popcorn, three facets kids typically like on their own (colors, sugar, popcorn), but combine them into one super snack, and how could they resist!
As always, these are our thoughts, we would love to hear what you think. Agree or disagree, let us know.
