And once again we find ourselves at the pivotal crossroads of: A) do we proceed with opening, tasting and reviewing the last flavor from Kettle Brand’s new trio of chips? Or, B) do we hold onto that mystery, that as of yet unknown flavor experience that only comes around every once in a little while?! Oh, who are we kidding?!?! We’re talking about new Kettle Brand potato chips here – LET’S RIP THIS BAG OPEN!!
(Oh wait, we forgot about Kettle Brand’s “child-proof”, industrial strength, always difficult to open, chip bags…) scratch original plans – grab the scissors – LET’S CUT THIS BAG OPEN!!
Kettle Brand (sort of) recently released (sorry, we’ve been holding onto our tasting notes for this one quite a while…) three unique new flavors to their ever delicious arsenal. If there is supposed to be a cohesive flavor theme among this odd group, we do not see it?! Maybe they are going for bold flavors?? Not sure. First up, we tasted and reviewed the Pepperoncini flavor. Honestly, we were easily the most excited for these, and in the end, the most let down as well. Next up, were the Red Curry flavor. We found this exotic flavor to be quite impressive and uniquely delicious! As for the Roasted Garlic flavor, let’s just say that we were pleasantly surprised!
The key to these chips is that the roasted garlic seasoning although rich and powerful, is balanced and not completely overwhelming. In other words it is merely here to compliment Kettle Brand’s fantastic potato chips. The garlic delivers a deliciously sweet flavor essence, with the help of some lingering onion in the background, that really does taste like those slow roasted garlic bulbs had been rubbed all of over the potato chips.
Usually garlic is a complimentary or supporting role flavor, but this time around it is front and center. There are some other seasonings waltzing around this dance, but there is no doubt who the star of the show is!! We were more than pleasantly surprised with how good these chips were despite simply being garlic flavored chips! Really, how boring do these sound? It’s like they are missing some other flavor ingredients…maybe some parmesan or some other cheese, or some chile, or some herbs perhaps? But, Kettle Brand was confident enough in the savory seasoning they had created, and so they should be!
Plain and simple Kettle Brand’s Roasted Garlic potato chips are very, very easy to eat.
As always, these are our thoughts, we would love to hear what you think. Agree or disagree, let us know.
