BIJOU-REVIEW: Trader Joe’s – Mango Coconut Caramel Corn

Rating: ©©©©-1/4 chips  (lip-smacking)

Trader Joe's - Mango Coconut Caramel CornMango Coconut Caramel Corn?!?

Does that sound appealing to you?  If the answer to that question is yes, then you are most definitely going to enjoy these.  If the answer to that question is no, then you will most likely be extremely surprised by how tasty this caramel corn truly is!

Initial scents triggered thoughts of tropical far away lands.  Strong notes of coconut, combined with sweet, sticky caramel, and rich butter.

Initial tastes reconfirmed initial thoughts of tropical far away lands!  Delicious far away lands filled with the flavors of sweet caramel and coconut, mingling with fruity mango and rich, smooth butter.

This is some seriously heavily coated popcorn kernels, they have some weight to them.

Large, full, round, popcorn kernels.

Surprising, impressively surprising.

As always, these are our thoughts, we would love to hear what you think.  Agree or disagree, let us know.

RATING: Cobs – I ♥ Milk Chocolate Caramel Popcorn

Rating: ©©©©-1/4 chips  (lip-smacking)

Cobs - I Heart Milk Chocolate

Deliciously similar to Cob’s Dark Chocolate Caramel version, only we prefer the more savory, toasty, bitter notes of the dark chocolate.

BIJOU-REVIEW: Alaska Chip Company – Carnival Corn

Rating: ©©©-3/4 chips  (notable)

Alaska Chip Co. - Carnival CornFun stuff!!

What more can we say really?

Do you have children?  Are you a kid yourself?  Well, then this colorful Carnival Corn is probably right up your alley.

We were a little surprised to find that these different colors of popcorn, actually provided different sweet flavors as well.  We would have thought that they were all simply sugar flavored, but nope!

Carnival Corn consists of: caramel colored caramel flavor, red cherry, blue raspberry and purple grape.  And believe it or not, the fruity flavors actually taste oddly like sugary fruit.

Enough said, this stuff is fun.

BIJOU-REVIEW: Popcorn, Indiana – Chicago Style Caramel & Cheese Popcorn

Rating: ©©©© chips (lip-smacking)

Popcorn Indiana - Chicago StyleChicago Style / Mix = Caramel & Cheese Popcorn. Or, as we like to call it, popped perfection!

Others may not relish in the this deliciously sweet and salty, ying-yang, combination the way we do; but that would just mean that those people are wrong (just kidding, or are we?).

Popcorn, Indiana gives us a very respectable version of the classic combination.

Their caramel kernels are pretty straight forward. Glazed with a sweet and crackle-y brown caramel coating that hits the sweet tooth just right.

The cheddar cheese kernels on the other hand are a bit unique.  Substantially coated with a dull, orange-ish yellow powder that tastes of generic Cheetos (and we mean that in the most complimentary way possible).  You know what we are talking about – cheese seasoning that is devoid of any real, fatty, rich cheese essence, and yet can deliver a delightfully, tangy and salty, cheddar cheese flavor that hits the spot.  Quite enjoyable.

The kernels themselves are full bodied, with plenty of crispy, fleshy chew.

As always, these are our thoughts, we would love to hear what you think. Agree or disagree, let us know.

BIJOU-REVIEW: Pringles Limited Time Only! – Salted Caramel

Rating: ©©©©-1/4 chips  (lip-smacking)

Pringles - Salted CaramelDon’t you just love the holidays?!?!  First, all of the pumpkin flavored, and scented, anythings show up everywhere.  Next, comes of the game birds, and roasting nuts, and warm apple cider.  Then it snows, and you wish you had put up your Christmas lights the weekend prior.  And then, Pringles holiday pandemonium arrives!  That’s right, time to put those snow shovels down for a second, and give a taste to the newest limited edition weird Pringles seasonal flavors!!

Some people are sort of disgusted by the idea of sweet flavorings on salty snacks.  We on the other hand pretty much love trying anything new, or out of the ordinary, and for the most part we have found that those pre-disgusted people would be very surprised if they just gave the snack a shot!

These Salted Caramel flavored Pringles are a good case in point.  They are quite fantastic, and really lip-smackingly tasty!

Pringles potato crisps don’t really provide much flavor on their own so they simply act as a neutral delivery device for letting the seasoning shine, while providing the crispy textural component!  As for the seasoning, well it tasted exactly – E-X-A-C-T-L-Y – like caramel with salt.   Sweet, and buttery, and salty, and the seasoning works with the potato crisps.

Another great job Pringles!  Thanks for continuing to push the flavor combo boundaries, and dabbling in flavors that most other chip companies wouldn’t ever think of trying!

In case you were wondering, below is our ranking of the sweet seasonal Pringles that we have tasted and reviewed:

  1. Tortillas Limited Time Only! – Cinnamon Sugar
  2. Salted Caramel
  3. White Chocolate
  4. Pecan Pie
  5. White Chocolate Peppermint
  6. Cinnamon & Sugar
  7. Milk Chocolate
  8. Pumpkin Pie Spice
