Barrel O’ Fun – Old Fashioned Dill Pickle Potato Chips
Rating: ©©©-3/4 chips (notable)
The second round of Gardy’s Signature Flavors? Once again, “who is Gardy you ask?” Well, Ron Gardenhire is the Manager for the greatest team in the history of Major League Baseball – the Minnesota Twins (sorry Sox, sorry Cubs, our roots run deep). And, what is Ron Gardenhire doing creating ‘Signature Flavors’ for Barrel O’ Fun (B.O.F.) potato chips? Well, B.O.F. just happens to be the official potato chips of the Minnesota Twin, and what’s more official than letting the F.M. sign-off on some tasty new flavors? Batter up!
First, and foremost, we should mention the potato chips themselves. Barrel O’ Fun, makes some fairly tasty potato chips. They are thinner, medium sized, with lots of potato flavor. It’s sort of amazing how the potato flavor isn’t completely overshadowed by the dill pickle seasoning, but it simply isn’t. The bag was filled up full with large, unbroken potato chips; many of which still retained their potato peels on their edges.
Gardy’s Signature Flavors Old Fashioned Dill Pickle Potato Chips are a worthy addition to his line-up. In our opinion, they won’t be batting clean-up any time soon, that position still belongs to Gardy’s Cheddar & Horseradish potato chips; however, they would still make a great lead-off bag! Their seasoning blend is reminiscent of Larry The Cable Guy’s Fried Dill PIckle Chips, but they are not quite as dill-y, or vinegar-y. In the end, their old fashioned dill pickle seasoning blend is flavorful, but mild.
We like them well enough, but they certainly will not be making Chip Review’s Top 5 Dill Pickle chips any time soon. Make sure to tell us your favorite Dill / Pickle flavored chips.
As always, these are our thoughts, we would love to hear what you think. Agree or disagree, let us know.
