“Alright fine, don’t tell us…..”
These all natural tortilla chips most definitely are the Better -(than the majority of the others chips out there)- Chips. These chips are among that small percentage of “all natural chips” that wouldn’t need to indicate it on the bag; one look, one taste, and you know. We mean come on, you can see the tasty jalapeno and onion slices mixed right into the corn tortilla chips (similar to another chip we reviewed recently).
If we have one gripe regarding these chips (and we do, that’s why they have a 4-3/4 rating and not a perfect 5), it would be that they are inaccurately described and marketed to consumers. The issue is in the flavor description…never before have we had a jalapeno flavored chip with so much onion flavor (it works). Plain and simple, we think these should be called ‘Onion & Jalapeno’ flavored chips.
The chips themselves have a nice real jalapeno heat that lingers for a little while but not too long. The onion half of the flavor really reminds us of slightly undercooked onion rings (meaning the onions themselves still have a bit of their bite to them, not that they are soggy). And where as the jalapeno flavor dissipates after a short while, the onion flavor sticks with you all day! All and all, the sweet pungent onion and spicy fresh jalapeno blend works wonderfully together, and this unique combination of tasty chips have crept their way onto Chip Review’s Top 5 Jalapeno Chips.
