Archer Farms - Honey Dijon

Comments:

In case you have never heard us say it, Archer Farms really puts out a lot of great chip products.  Their vast selection, originality, and quality are definitely near, if not, at the top of the grocery-store, exclusive line of chips.  And, in case you are somehow unfamiliar with Archer Farms – SHAME ON YOU, and you should probably check out What’s Good at Archer Farms?!!  And, in case you decide not to, Archer Farms is Target’s exclusive line of food products.

Archer Farms’ homestyle potato chips are thicker cut, hearty, with a robust, kettle cooked crunch.  These are commanding potato chips, with super crispy edges, and are definitely up there with some of the crunchiest chips on the market.  Visually, they are a light golden color, and come in every shape – large circles, folded half moons, wiggles and bunches.

The honey dijon flavor is certainly HONEY forward!  A strong, practically cloyingly sweet honey forward flavor hits the palette first and foremost.  A quick glance at the ingredients’ list shows not only honey, but ‘dry honey’!  Huh?!?  Apparently, dry honey is secret combination of honey and sugar.  Otherwise known as your dentist’s worst nightmare!!  Combined with some sweet onion powder, and there is simply no denying the sweetness of these chips.

Luckily, the Dijon mustard is rather pronounced as well.  In fact, there is no mistaking that these are Dijon mustard flavored.  Flavorful and aromatic, and yet somehow they were completely devoid of any and all of the pungent mustard nasal heat!  Other than their overwhelming sweetness, the chips were on the tame side.  We would have liked a little something to perk them up a bit, or counterbalance the sweetness.  A splash of vinegar, a dash of horseradish, something.  Alas, they are rather one (SWEET) note, but still notably easy to crunch.

As always, these are our thoughts, we would love to hear what you think.  Agree or disagree, let us know.
