Pringles Tortillas - Zesty Salsa

Comments:

Our review of Walmart’s exclusive Pringles Tortillas Zesty Salsa crisps, is brought to you exclusively by us, and written exclusively for you!

First, lets take care of those brass tacks and discuss the intricacies of Pringles’ new corn Tortillas crisps themselves.  The Tortillas are a heartier, denser, crunchier, and can we just call them a more “rustic” corn variation of Pringles’ traditional potato crisps.  Their mouth-feel is similar to the potato-based Pringles, only less brittle on the bite.  The crisps do still inhabit Pringles’ classically curved, oval, uniform design, allowing them to stack perfectly in their canister.

The corn flavor is definitely present, but sort of feels a bit manipulated.  Come to think of it, these may be the first tortilla CRISPS that we have ever tasted (but, apparently not the first that Pringles have ever made,- courtesy of The Impulsive Buy).  All that being said, what actually constitutes, or more correctly separates, a tortilla CRISP from a chip is beyond us, because honestly when we think of a crisp, we think of a “forced together” chip, instead of a sliced potato??

As for the Zesty Salsa flavor, not to steal words directly from Junk Food Guy’s keyboard, but he’s absolutely correct in his review that with “first taste of these New Zesty Salsa Pringles Tortillas: They tasted like OLD SCHOOL SALSA RIO DORITOS…And here they are…in Pringles form.”  We couldn’t have said it better ourselves, and so we didn’t even try!  The seasoning blend is really delicious, but since we (Junk Food Guy) already brought up Doritos, we actually wish that these Pringles were seasoned more heavily a la Doritos.  These were just too subtle for our preference.

The seasoning starts with a zesty tang of slightly sweet, and moderately sour, tomato flavor.  Followed by a complimentary blend of some citrus notes, a little chile, and of course garlic and onion.  The combo is tart, tasty, and reminiscent of salsa!  Combined with the Tortillas’ corn crisps, and Pringles has another hit on their hands!  Nearly as tasty as their Southwestern Ranch, and certainly better than their Nacho Cheese flavor.

As always, these are our thoughts, we would love to hear what you think.  Agree or disagree, let us know.
